The Active Life Centre @Coxhoe is hub for sports clubs & teams plus local groups with plenty of indoor and outdoor facilities available for the whole community to enjoy.

We take a lead role in the development of affiliated sports clubs, teams and other local groups to create new sporting opportunities in the area.
If you'd like to hire the Sports Hall or newly resurfaced 3G outdoor pitch for a 5-a-side football game, have a game of Squash, Table Tennis or Badminton with your friends, please call us to reserve your time slot.

Our fully equipped gym includes treadmills, stationary bikes, rowing machines and crosstrainers, as well as a full range of resistance machines. Our separate free weights room provides a range of dumbbells, barbells and benches.

Fitness Class Information

A combination of cardiovascular and resistance exercises in a circuit based routine, interspersed with some simple group aerobics. The circuit can easily be adapted to suit any fitness level or ability. A great class for general fitness, ideal for the over 50's, beginners or those wanting an enjoyable low impact work out. Refreshments available afterwards.

Walking Football

Walking Football is, as the name suggests, a lower version of the beautiful game. If you can no longer manage a full game, are recovering from injury, or just want to improve your fitness and ball skills, then this is for you.

In association with County Durham Sport and the Durham FA, this new special offer at the Active Life Centre @Coxhoe is designed to help people keep an active lifestyle and get back into playing football.

As you’ve guessed Walking Football involves a lot of… well… walking. It carries all the same rules as every day football except you can’t pick up too much speed. It provides a sociable, fun and safe environment for those looking to be a little more active in their spare time and gives those that may have given up the chance to get back into the sport they love.

Netball

Wednesdays 6:30pm-8:00pm. £4/session

From burning calories and lowering body fat, improving muscle tone and hand-eye co-ordination, and developing the body’s cardiovascular system, taking part in Netball is great for you in so many ways.
Sessions provide a gentle re-introduction to the game for women over sixteen and are led by qualified coaches. You can just turn up, sessions are pay and play, and you can expect to cover basic skills like passing and footwork and play in a fun and friendly match. It doesn’t matter if you don’t feel that fit, you can take the session at your own pace and there a position on the netball court for everyone.
